Seven Rohingyas have been killed in clashes between two groups at the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya Cox’s Bazar.7more people were injured.Police have arrested a man with a weapon in the incident.Police are conducting raids in the camps to arrest Rohingyas.The incident took place in the early hours of Friday (October 22) in Block A-52 of Camp No 18 in Ukhiya.Police initially said four people had been killed, but later confirmed that seven had been killed.The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Idris (32) Balukhali-2, Ibrahim Hossain (22),Balukhali-1, Azizul Haque (26), father- Nurul Islam, Camp-18, Block-A52 and Md Amin (32) Father-Abul Hossain, Camp 18, Block-A-52.Members of the 8th Armored Police Battalion arrested a man named Mujibur Rahman with a weapon in the incident.Confirming the matter, Cox’s Bazar 8 Armored Police Battalion Commander SP Shihab Kaiser Khan said,It is not yet clear why the two groups clashed.However, we have arrested one person with a weapon.
Meanwhile, a team of district police led by Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Mohammad Rafiqul Islam arrived at the spot on hearing of the incident.Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Md Rafiqul Islam said,He has already reached Ukhiya police station with 6 dead bodies from the camp. Another body was on its way to the police station from the camp.
They will be sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital Morgue for autopsy.Additional Superintendent of Police said that a case is being registered in this regard.Meanwhile, the sudden clash between the two groups in the Rohingya camp has caused panic in the surrounding villages.However, Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police Md Hasanuzzaman told PPM,Law enforcement agencies are in a tough position to maintain law and order.
